Mission Accomplished in Bilbao: Sail4Sustainability Reaches Final Harbor
Date: 21 October 2025
Topic: Final Conference & Project Wrap-Up
"Change starts small — like a ripple that becomes a wave."
This October, the Sail4Sustainability journey came full circle in Bilbao, Spain, where we celebrated the conclusion of our 24-month adventure with a final conference hosted by our partners Moragues & Scade Abogados.
What began as a vision two years ago has grown into a powerful movement connecting young minds, open hearts, and endless blue horizons. Bringing together representatives from all consortium members, stakeholders, and experts, the event was not just a formal conclusion but a celebration of learning, sharing, and dreaming of a greener tomorrow.
A 24-Month Voyage for a Greener Future
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ Sport programme, the project united partners from Croatia, Austria, Turkey, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands with a clear goal: to use the power of sailing to teach sustainability, teamwork, and inclusion.
In Bilbao, we proudly presented the tangible results of this voyage:
-
The Sustainable Sailing Programme: A new model integrating environmental awareness with technical sailing skills.
-
Comprehensive Training Materials: Including a manual on environmental sustainability and a toolkit for inclusion.
-
An International Expert Network: Established to keep the "green sailing" conversation alive across Europe long after the project ends.
While the official project timeline has reached its end, the tide of sustainability keeps moving forward.
As we reflected during the conference, every wave we rode carried a story. We discussed how sport can truly change the world when done with purpose—transforming climate anxiety into action and barriers into bridges.
Huge thanks to everyone who sailed this journey with us:
-
Sailing Club Maxi (Croatia)
-
Zentrum für Innovative Bildung (Austria)
-
Karasu Genclik Sanat ve Spor Kulübü Derneği (Türkiye)

This may be our final harbor for the project, but the knowledge and partnerships built here will continue to make waves.
