Climb It Up!
Climbing for Social Inclusion and Diversity (Climb It Up) - aims to make climbing more inclusive and accessible, particularly for migrants and ethnic minorities, fostering social inclusion and enriching the climbing community.
The project's specific objectives include generating new knowledge about the benefits of climbing for soft skills development and social inclusion, increasing awareness and skills within the climbing community to promote diversity, using climbing as an educational tool for skill development and social inclusion of migrants/ethnic minorities, and raising awareness about the positive impact of climbing on social inclusion.
Results and resources:
This handbook brings together the results of a comprehensive research study, “Understanding the Benefits and the Barriers of Inclusion in and through Climbing,” and a collection of practical experiences from across Europe. It explores both the opportunities and challenges of fostering inclusion within the climbing community, with a particular focus on migrants and ethnic minorities in Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, and Spain. Featuring 20 carefully selected practices from partner countries, the handbook illustrates how climbing can help overcome social, cultural, and physical barriers, bringing people together while promoting inclusion, participation, and overall well-being.
